Heel pain is experienced by millions of Americans each year and can have many causes, including an abnormal walking gait, injury, or bruises incurred when running, walking, or jumping on hard surfaces. Pain in the back of the heel is usually linked with Achilles tendinitis. Achilles tendinitis is when the Achilles tendon is inflamed. Continual running or walking can cause a tightened tendon.
